Sustainable Composition & Creative Sound Practices
Honoured to have been selected by @ultimafestivalen, @nordicmusicdays, and @hcmfuk for the Sustainable Composition & Creative Sound Practices programme.
I’ll use the year long programme to explore an idea I’m calling “Musical Mudlarking”, making music from found objects and creating soundscapes that reflect the environmental impact of human activity.
I started the programme by attending NMD festival in Glasgow, which featured a packed schedule of panels, presentations and performances of sound art and contemporary music. Highlights include a stunning performance from @scottishensemblestrings, a fascinating discussion about sustainable touring (can we weigh a cultural impact against a carbon impact?), and brilliantly playful installations from @maxbjorverud and @rosali.grankull.music.
I even squeezed in a parkrun before heading home.
